1 Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public.
2 Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the website.
3 Cookies
If you leave a comment you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Login cookies last for two days and screen option cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved indicating the post ID. It expires after one day.
4 Embedded Content
Articles may include embedded content (videos, images, etc.). Embedded content behaves the same as visiting the originating website. These websites may collect data, use cookies, and track interaction.
5 Data Sharing
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
6 Data Retention
Comments and metadata are retained indefinitely. Registered users can view, edit, or delete personal information, except usernames. Website administrators can also edit user information.
7 Your Rights
If you have an account or left comments, you may request an exported file of your personal data or request deletion. This excludes data retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
8 Where Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through automated spam detection services.
